Rashi is the new matriarch of the Modi family. Kokila and Ahem are depressed due to the loss of Meera and Gopi. Vidya is fun-loving, talkative and naughty girl and wants to find her estranged father. Gopi gives birth and raises her second daughter, Vidya single-handedly, working as an art teacher and lives in Somgarh. Kokila holds Gopi responsible for Meera's death, and makes her leave the house for taking away the family's happiness. Rashi tries many unsuccessful attempts to create trouble for Gopi, but in the end the cousins are happily accepted by their family. Eventually, Gopi's steadfast, kind-hearted mother-in-law, Kokila turns Gopi into a confident and smarter woman so that she is accepted by Ahem. Gopi and Rashi are married respectively to Ahem and Jigar, the sons of Modi family. She is left illiterate, naive, kind and shy while their own daughter, Rashi is educated, friendly, lively and cunning. Urmila and Jitu adopted their niece, Gopi after her parents died. The series focused on life and arranged the marriage of two cousin sisters, Gopi and Rashi. Ī spiritual sequel and second season of the series, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 premiered on 19 October 2020 on Star Plus starring Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Rupal Patel, Mohammad Nazim in main lead cameos and Sneha Jain, Harsh Nagar in the main leads. It was replaced by Tu Sooraj, Main Saanjh Piyaji. The series ended on 23 July 2017, completing 2,184 episodes. The storyline took several leaps including one year leap in June 2013, eight years leap in February 2014, and a further ten years in March 2015, four years in May 2016 and three months in March 2017. It revolved around the Modi family and explored morals and values of a typical Gujarati joint family, when cousins Gopi and Rashi marry Modi sons, Ahem and Jigar. In 2012, Giaa Manek was replaced by Devoleena Bhattacharjee. It starred Giaa Manek, Rucha Hasabnis, Mohammad Nazim and Vishal Singh as Gopi, Rashi, Ahem and Jigar respectively.
